The Portuguese netted a terrific treble as Carlo Ancelotti's men withstood a late onslaught to move back to within two points of Liga leaders Barcelona

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a sensational hat-trick as Real Madrid recorded a vital and hard-fought 3-2 victory at Sevilla on Saturday.

After a couple of near-misses, the Portugal international opened the scoring at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan with a fine header in the 36th minute before turning home a cross from close range just 60 seconds later.

Carlos Bacca pulled a goal back from the penalty spot just before the break only to see Ronaldo restore Real's two-goal advantage with a sublime header from a Gareth Bale cross.

Sevilla set up a frantic finale thanks to Vicente Iborra but Madrid just about hung on to draw back to within two points of Liga leaders Barcelona.
